Dwight “Doc” Gooden was a dominant right-handed pitcher for the New York Mets who took Major League Baseball by storm in the mid-1980s with his electric fastball and devastating curveball. At just 20 years old, he won the 1985 Cy Young Award and played a key role in the Mets’ 1986 World Series championship, leaving a lasting mark despite a career shortened by injuries and personal challenges.
